Ten percent of Finnish environmental business operations, a strong environmental Business Park and four environmental educational / research units are located in the Lahti Region, making it Finland’s most important regional cluster for research, education and business in the field. Lahti Science and Business Park is a leading networking facilitator in cleantech sector in Finland coordinating the National Cleantech Cluster operations. The cluster has several international recognitions for its concrete results.
Concrete Results
The Cluster has already helped to create over 500 new green jobs and dozens of new international business opportunities for Finnish cleantech companies.
In 2009, Danuta Hübner, the EU Commissioner for Regional Policy, introduced the Lahti Science and Business Park’s Cleantech Cluster as a model example of concrete results achieved with the help of EU funding.
With the 1.5 million euro funding granted by the Commission, 170 new jobs in the Cleantech field have been created in Lahti, along with 20 new businesses and more than 30 million euros worth of investments in the sector.
