Cleantech Venture Day’09 was organized for the fifth year in a row on Nov 26 in the Sibelius Hall. The Day gathered + 160 VC funds, technology ventures and affiliated professionals from the entire Nordic region.

The key note speaker for the Day, Lord Browne at Riverstone Holdings UK shared his view on Energy Beyond to Economic crisis on the role of government in bringing down carbon emissions as well as only cost efficient energy solutions to be sustainable on long term. The key note speech accomplished an update on cleantech investment views and strategies by leading North-European and Asian investors like SET Venture Partners, BASF Venture Capital, Siemens Venture Capital and YES Bank India. YES Bank India shared their view on the significant and fast growing Indian market especially in the areas of solar, waste to energy, water, smart grid and energy efficiency. In addition, a total of 25 investment cases with energy components were pitching and presenting during the Day both on stage and in the poster exhibition.

During the dinner, Cleantech Scandinavia gave a special award to Lassi Noponen from Finland. This was the first award of this kind and also marked the opening of a Scandinavian Cleantech Hall of Fame, where Cleantech Scandinavia will continue to award people like Lassi who have inspired others in the Nordic cleantech industry, helping to accelerate Nordic cleantech development and growth.
