By plane

By car

By train
The Helsinki Central Railway Station is located in the city center.

Trains from Helsinki to Lahti and back run daily once or twice in an hour from about 5 a.m. to about 10 p.m. For detailed timetables, information and prices, please visit www.vr.fi/eng/ . Purchasing the ticket with credit card via internet is also possible.
By bus
You can reach Lahti from Helsinki Vantaa airport's international terminal bus station with express bus. The bus runs daily from 00 am to 11 pm with several connections. From Lahti bus station you can reach Helsinki Vantaa airport international terminal with express bus daily from 2.45 am to 11 pm with several connections. Medical services
Medicines are sold at pharmacies (Apteekki). Some pharmacies have late opening hours. In Lahti, the pharmacy Yliopiston Apteekki (address: Aleksanterinkatu 13) is open daily between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., phone +358 20 320 200 (ask your hotel if needed). In emergencies patients should be directed to a health centre or hospital emergency unit.

The currency in Finland is Euro.
Foreign Exchange: All banks are open from Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (office hours may vary regionally), closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Time zone
Finland is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). The time difference between Eastern U.S. Standard Time and Finnish Standard Time is 7 hours. Daylight Saving Time (DST) is in effect during the winter as in the rest of the European Union. Finland is one hour ahead of Central European Time (CET) and two hours ahead of time in the UK and Ireland.
Weather
The first snow falls in northern Finland in September, and elsewhere in October. In winter, the mean temperature remains slightly below 0°C. Winter usually begins in mid-October in Lapland and during November in the rest of Finland. The sea and lakes retard the progress of winter. Winter is the longest season, lasting for about 100 days in southwestern Finland and 200 days in Lapland.
